I'll start off by saying that I too grew up
watching the Disney movies and thinking I wanted to be just like those lucky
Disney Princesses. I wanted my prince to come take me away some day and where
we could live in a huge castle happily ever after. But truth be told, those
Disney stories are actually not even the type of men I want any more, and now
that I'm older, I see just why.
Lets take
an example of a Disney Prince and I'll explain to you what his character is realistically:
Aladdin
A perfect example! He's a good looking guy, he seems possibly athletic, charming, and smooth-talking. Don't get me wrong -- I would fall hard if I saw a sexy man like Aladdin coming along
strutting his stuff and showing his six pack all day long.
However, when you get past his good looks, you learn to see there's more than just a sexy stud. For instance, he's a thief -- a poor boy who lives on the streets and steals
for his monkey friend and himself. So, is he too lazy to work? Or incapable of
making friends since his only friend is a monkey? Well i can't answer those questions,
but when I dig even deeper I see even more alarming issues with this guy.
True, he has a good heart and gives some of his
stolen bread to the children who are also starving. But then when this good-hearted boy finds a lamp with a Genie who grants him three wishes - he wishes
for what? Wealth and power! Sounds like the typical man, huh? But perhaps this
now rules out the possibilities of him being a very good-hearted boy after all!!
I don't know, you tell me?
Then Aladdin chooses to use his wealth and power
to win over a girl -- Jasmine. It’s no wonder men act the way that they do! However, Jasmine isn't that easy. So what's his next clever plan? To lie, of course! The one thing that every man tries his hardest to succeed at -- but it always catches up to them.
Poor little Jasmine however, she falls for his
lying words and actions and lays upon him a self-meaningful kiss during their magical flying
carpet ride. Awww, stupid girl! I think all of us girls have made this mistake before. Well, maybe not on a flying carpet ride, but you get what I mean.
Anyhow, Jasmine, having fallen in love, gets herself into drama, danger, and a whole heep of trouble where she almost dies in sand. Aladdin luckily saves her and then they live happily ever after....But how can Jasmine love him after all that?! It's beyond me. Though I can guess that Jasmine sought some major counseling after something that drastic occurred and in order to convince herself to trust him again. Stupid Aladdin won after all I guess.
Your going to laugh but I can sing the whole movie from start to finish... lets just say iv watched it a few times :D
ReplyDeleteThat makes a lot of sense. No wonder girls can't trust guys; look what Aladdin has taught men!
